Another week, another In a Pinch post that goes up late... I don’t have a great excuse as I’ve only been working, but, y’all, it’s been non-stop. Nights, weekends, Labor Day, you name it. Throw in the flu AND pink eye and I’ve been exhausted lately... Needless to say, I haven’t been doing anything fun. At all. I also haven’t been doing anything else. No cooking, no cleaning, no laundry. Ugh, is this adulthood? I truly love being busy but I’m ready for a day where I can stay in pajamas and watch a season of SVU. Ya feel me?!
Hi friends! It seems like it's been years since I've popped on here, but in reality, it's only been a little under three months. A lifetime of wonderful and not so wonderful things have happened this summer but most importantly: I'M DONE WITH THE BAR EXAM! It's taken a couple of days for it to really to set in that I'll never have to study for another exam and it feels wonderful.
In an effort to have a "leaner closet" this year, I decided to not only limit what I bought but also try out a company that allows you to rent clothing. In theory, it sounds too good to be true: rent high-end clothing, return the clothing without having to wash it, and order something else you've had your eye on. What could get better?
I've talked about my skincare routine here [and a quick editor's note to a recent change in it here] and my specific skin type. To recap, I am 24 and deal with the occasional hormonal breakout, lots of blackheads, and dry skin in the winter. I have a pretty normal skin type so if you deal with the same issues I think this post may be helpful
Whenever I think of springy outfits I think of bright scarves, big earrings, and fun wedges. [Revolutionary, right?!] However, now that I'm in my mid-twenties, I want to invest in classic pieces that are warm enough for cold, spring days and I can wear for years to come. This isn't to say that I don't invest in fun dresses or tops, but I am trying to spend less on trendy pieces and more on classic, statement pieces.
One day, I started calculating how much money I spent a year at nail salons. When I saw the total, I was mortified. As a result, I decided to find a simple, fast way to paint my nails at home. I hate chipped nail polish, so I really wanted a process that kept my nail polish on for at least a week. Girls, let me tell ya... I have found the BEST way! It heals your nails, only takes about 30 minutes, and doesn't chip.
So, let's chat about what to wear to work. I have to wear business professional and, in the dead of Chicago's winter, that is sometimes difficult. That's why I love wearing pencil skirts!
I recently finished my thirtieth day of meditating in a row! As some of you know, meditation is one of my goals for 2018. I want to make it to 180 days! However, 30 consecutive days feels like such an accomplishment. I highly recommend the app Headspace. Andy, the man who does that guided meditation through the Headspace app, has a voice that is so calming.
